Hello to anyone who may stumble upon this fair blog these days!

I figured a good reason to come out of a non-planned hiatus was to ask for your help. As you may realize, being an avid fan of many fantastic groups who tour frequently, it’s always a bummer to hear when those bands are having issues on the road.

My friends in The Winter Sounds have been touring around in their fair van, The American Dream, who recently decided to crap out on them - leaving them stranded on Maryland and having to cancel some dates on their current tour. We’re all hoping you may be able to help, as times are hard and costs are high, but with your help - you can be generously rewarded! Here are a few ways:

I’ve not been one to listen to the Magnetic Fields in the past, to be honest, but there have been moments recently where I’ve realized how relatable they can be. My first venture into their music was “I Think I Need a New Heart,” which is just fun and dance-y and full of emotions all at the same time. Who doesn’t love that? With my recent love of all things DC, this song is just - perfect. If you know me though, my love for cherry blossoms is beyond words. So, enjoy, and feel free to dive into the Magnetic Fields discography (something I too plan on doing).

The thing is quality music still exists in this world, and not only does it exist - sometimes the more unknown acts are overlooked because the Top 40 can be easy to come by. I’m proud to say that Kevin Devine’s newest album (Between The Concrete & Clouds; that has been officially released today - Sept 13th) was sold as a Daily Deal on Amazon yesterday (Sept 12th). It is officially the number one most downloaded album above things like: O.A.R., Mumford & Sons, and even Adele’s 21.

Congratulations to Kevin and everyone else who worked on his album (including, and obviously not limited to, his lovely, lovely band) - so glad to see you guys achieving this well deserved recognition.

If you were unable to pick the album yesterday, be sure to grab it TODAY on Amazon, iTunes, or at your local record stores! Also, check him out on tour in a city near you, as he’s on a full tour of the USA supporting this release.

If there’s one thing that Boston has gifted me, it was the chance to see the lovely singer/songwriter live on many occasions. Say you don’t know who she is? Meet Liz Longley, a talent who’s making her name while being constantly on tour across the country. For me, her songs have been solid since her first album, but with every new one debuted her talents have been shining more and more. This is one of my favorite songs, and one of her most recent ones.

Besides the beach/the pool, the best part about summer is hitting up some awesome concerts. And I’ve definitely been doing that! I’ve gone to a few shows and here’s the run down of people I’ve seen: Michael Tolcher, Jeff LeBlanc, Jer Coons, Rosi Golan, and Matt Duke.

My good friend Katie recently graduated from college and is spending a summer at home before heading off to upstate New York for graduate school. Lucky for me, her spending a summer at home means she’s outside of Boston and also someone who enjoys going to concerts. So far we’ve been to two at my favorite venue in town, and she wrote a bit about the first one here. Read it, follow her and keep an eye out for great summer concerts near where you live!

First Listen: Death Cab For Cutie, 'Codes And Keys':

Thanks to NPR you can get a listen (or two or three…) to the newest Death Cab for Cutie album “Codes And Keys” before it is officially released on May 31st.

I’m going to keep my opinion to myself for now, as to keep your mind fresh when going into your first listen. I will say that in the past I’ve been indecisive on whether or not I should listen to the prerelease as there’s something to going to your local record store (or nearby iTunes, these days for most) on the release day. In this case though, I did listen…
